Sonic Cake

This is the birthday cake I made for a friend's birthday party. The cake was intended for four people, but I decided to make a Sonic cake since that is one of her favorite game series.

I was inspired by the Green Hill Zone of Sonic 1 and played video game music to help me do this. It took about 5-7 hours total which was divided in 3 days so that the frosting and cakes would be more manipulable and have time to dry.

The cake is a three layered cake alternating between chocolate and white, with some strawberry/blood orange filling. The outer has been coated with buttercreme frosting and marshmallow fondant.

Next time I will definitely use real fondant, while marshmallow is quick and easy to make, it is a bitch to cut up. :/

Oh and maybe get, like real thinks to make a cake, since I did all of this using cut holes in sandwich bags. Yay for cheap alternatives!
